ALLIUM ‘Globemaster’ (Ornamental onion)

The bulb of Allium ‘Globemaster’ lies 15cm (6 inches) below the soil surface through the winter. In early spring, strong mid-green leaves push through the soil; at the tip of the stem a pale green pointed nodule appears.

Bees’ Favourite.

The leaves grow long; they sag and become floppy before the nodule evolves into a small sphere, covered with LAVENDER flowers. This flower globe expands gradually, reaching nearly 8 inches across at the top of its long stem. As with other Alliums, bees are all over the flowers.
